Cafe Manager
As our Cafe Manager, you will oversee all the operations of St Peter’s Café
You will work closely with the Rector and directors of St Peter’s Catering Company Ltd to ensure that the café maximises profitability, while providing a warm and friendly environment for customers, staff & volunteers.
You will manage kitchen staff, front-of-house and volunteers effectively, to ensure that the cafe runs smoothly and efficiently, including recruiting, training and scheduling. You will also track inventory order supplies and ensure the cafe is clean and well-maintained, ensuring that the café is compliant with all statutory requirements. This is a hands-on role, and you will be expected to lead by example.
The right candidate is excited about creating and implementing appropriate menus & marketing strategies to promote the cafe and increase customer traffic. They have excellent communication and organisational skills and experience in the food service industry. They work well under pressure and can multitask effectively. It is important that the successful candidate can be flexible surrounding sick & holiday cover. You must have the ability to work well with others, delight our customers and retain and build customer loyalty.

Minimum requirements:
at least two years of experience in hospitality with barista skills
a love of providing coffee, tea and high-quality food
ability to commit to the required shifts
excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
creativity and graphic design skills are a plus
· candidates with managerial experience preferred

St Peter’s Café is a popular venue covering most of the ground floor of St Peter’s Centre next to the Church. The Café is open 9am – 3.30pm Monday to Saturday serving delicious hot & cold food, drinks, and cakes.

Head Verger
Open everyday, St Peter’s has stood for 9 centuries at the heart of the city and needs a verger who will cherish that heritage , welcome the many and varied daily visitors and prepare for and support the Sunday and weekday services which are an integral part of the life of the church .
The Head Verger will work closely with the clergy, music department, St Peter’s Centre staff, Churchwardens, welcomers and volunteers. The verger, along with our caretaker, also has oversight of All Saints’ , our sister church on Raleigh Street.
Role of Head Verger
1. To help develop the churches as attractive, inclusive and welcoming resources for the city and visitors and to be the visible expression of that inclusive welcome.
2. To lead the parish verger team, including managing and supervising the assistant verger and caretaker.
3. To ensure that the churches function effectively as places of worship, and to support other events staged both by churches themselves and other organizations which use the church premises
37 hours per week (working pattern to be confirmed; in due course this might be 9.30 am to 4.30 pm Monday-Thursday, and from 7:30 am every Sunday, with varying finish times, including a lunch break on all days. Hours worked will require flexibility
