Remembering Dave, the Big Issue seller

Remembering Dave, the Big Issue seller

It was with deep sadness that I learned a few days ago that Dave, who sold the Big Issue magazine during the afternoons outside St Peter’s, had died suddenly on Easter Saturday.  He was in his mid-forties, and, whilst he had not been well, none of us were expecting him to be taken from us so suddenly.

Dave was always kind, courteous, and pleasant; he worked hard to sell his magazines and was always polite and respectful to those whom he met in the course of his work.  I remember having several conversations with him which gave me a rare glimpse of a way of life which was very demanding, but which had brought him many friendships.

He will be sorely missed by those who knew him.
