Funerals

A funeral is an act of thanksgiving and commemoration which marks the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping.

Both churches in the parish are available for funeral and memorial services. In the first instance, you should ask your Funeral Director to make contact with the Parish Office on 0115 948 3658 or office@nottinghamchurches.org A member of the clergy will then be in touch to discuss the details of your requirements.

Neither of the churches in the parish have churchyards which are still open for burials; cremation or burial therefore takes place at one of the crematoria or cemeteries in the local area. It is, however, possible for ashes to be buried in the Gardens of Remembrance at St Peter’s Church.

We recognise that the loss of a loved one is extremely difficult and that a funeral is very demanding emotionally. Clergy from our churches will therefore work sensitively with any family which has been bereaved to ensure that their particular wishes and needs are reflected in the funeral service. It is possible to ask for members of the Church Choir to sing at a funeral service (additional fees apply), depending on the availability of choristers.
